written contract
Formal binding promise
A written contract is a legally binding agreement documented on paper or in electronic form, as opposed to a verbal agreement.
The writing serves as evidence of terms both parties accepted: Make sure you get a written contract before starting the work.
Written contracts are generally easier to enforce in court than oral ones.
