woven textiles
Loomed fiber products
Woven textiles are fabrics made by interlacing threads at right angles on a loom—warp threads running lengthwise, weft threads crossing over and under.
The term distinguishes these from knitted, felted, or nonwoven materials.
Cotton, linen, silk, and wool are common fibers; denim, canvas, and tweed are familiar results.
The museum's collection includes woven textiles from pre-Columbian Peru.
