woundwort
Medicinal flowering herb
Woundwort is any of several plants traditionally used to treat wounds, especially species of the mint family with hairy leaves and spikes of purple or yellow flowers.
The name reflects old herbal medicine practices—the plants were applied as poultices to stop bleeding and promote healing.
The hedgerow was thick with woundwort and nettles.
