work-out
Fitness training routine
A work-out is a session of physical exercise or training: I try to fit in a work-out before breakfast.
The hyphenated form is less common than the solid compound *workout*, which dominates in contemporary usage.
The term extends to any strenuous effort: The exam was a real work-out.
