wing nuts
Finger-turned threaded fasteners
Wing nuts are fasteners with two flat projections that allow hand-tightening without tools—the "wings" provide grip for fingers.
They're used where frequent adjustment or removal is needed: The wing nuts on the drum hardware kept loosening.
Informally, wing nuts are people with extreme or eccentric political views, especially on the right: The wing nuts are dominating the comment section again.
