wicket gate
Pedestrian door inset
A wicket gate is a small door or gate set within or beside a larger one, allowing people to pass through without opening the main gate.
Churches, castles, and old city walls often had wicket gates for everyday access: She slipped through the wicket gate rather than unbolt the heavy doors.
The term also applies to regulatory gates in water turbines and canal locks.
