service entrance
Back door, commercial
A service entrance is a secondary door to a building, typically at the rear or side, used by delivery personnel, maintenance workers, and staff rather than guests or customers.
The term also has an electrical meaning: the point where utility power enters a building, including the meter, main breaker, and associated equipment.
Historically, service entrances enforced class and racial segregation, with domestic workers and minorities directed away from main entrances: Deliveries at the service entrance only.
