wholesale value
Pre-markup item cost
Wholesale value is the price of goods when sold in bulk from manufacturers or distributors to retailers, rather than to individual consumers.
It's typically lower than retail value because it excludes the markup retailers add: The wholesale value of the inventory was half what they'd charge customers.
The term appears in insurance claims, estate valuations, and business accounting where the distinction from retail price matters.
