wheels of steel
Spinning vinyl platforms
Wheels of steel is slang for turntables used by DJs, particularly in hip-hop and electronic music.
The phrase evokes the metallic platters spinning under a DJ's hands: She got on the wheels of steel and the crowd went wild.
The term carries a celebratory, slightly old-school flavor from DJ culture's golden era.
