wheel nut
Secures the rim
A wheel nut is the fastener that secures a wheel to a vehicle's hub, tightened onto the studs that hold the wheel in place.
Wheel nuts must be properly torqued—too loose and the wheel may come off; too tight and the studs can shear.
Also called a lug nut.
