weatherlore
Nature's forecast traditions
Weatherlore is traditional knowledge about predicting weather from natural signs—the behavior of animals, the appearance of clouds, the color of sunsets.
Much of it comes in proverbs: Red sky at night, sailor's delight.
Some weatherlore has scientific basis; some is folk superstition.
The term also covers broader traditional beliefs about weather and its effects on crops, health, and daily life.
