wax worms
Beehive pest grubs
Wax worms are the larvae of wax moths, small caterpillars that infest beehives and feed on beeswax and honey.
They're commonly sold as fishing bait and as food for pet reptiles, amphibians, and birds.
Recently they've attracted scientific interest for their apparent ability to digest plastic: Researchers discovered wax worms can break down polyethylene.
