wagon trail
Covered cart path
A wagon trail is a route across undeveloped terrain established by the passage of wagons, particularly associated with westward migration in 19th-century America.
These trails were marked by wheel ruts worn into the ground: The Oregon Trail was the most famous wagon trail west.
The term evokes frontier settlement and overland journeys before railroads.
