voter bloc
Unified voting group
A voter bloc is a group of voters who share a characteristic—demographic, ideological, or regional—and tend to vote similarly.
Politicians court specific blocs: the Latino bloc, the evangelical bloc, union voters as a bloc.
The term implies enough cohesion that the group's support can be won or lost collectively, though actual voting patterns vary among individuals.
