varlets
Lowly male servants
Varlets is the plural of varlet, an archaic word for a servant or attendant, especially one serving a knight.
The word later took on a contemptuous sense meaning a rogue or rascal: Away with you, varlets!
Modern use is almost always playful or theatrical, evoking Renaissance fairs or period drama.
