valley-girl

Like, totally her

Valley girl originally described young women from California's San Fernando Valley in the early 1980s, stereotyped for materialism, airheadedness, and a distinctive speech pattern heavy with "like," "totally," and rising intonation.

The term now applies to anyone—regardless of location—who talks or acts this way: She has that valley-girl voice.

Often hyphenated when used as an adjective.
