upfield

Toward the endzone

Upfield means toward the opponent's end of a playing field, the direction of attack in sports like football and soccer.

A quarterback throws upfield; a midfielder passes upfield.

The opposite is downfield from the passer's perspective, though the terms sometimes blur since both indicate forward progress.

The striker made a run upfield.
