underhand throw
Low arm toss
An underhand throw is a throwing motion where the arm swings forward from below the shoulder, releasing the ball on the upswing.
It's the standard technique in softball pitching and casual tosses: She lobbed an underhand throw to the toddler.
The motion is gentler and more controlled than an overhand throw, making it useful for short distances or when accuracy matters more than speed.
