ultrawideband

Short-pulse wireless technology

Ultrawideband is a radio technology that transmits data across a very broad frequency spectrum using low-energy pulses.

Unlike traditional radio signals, it spreads transmissions across many frequencies simultaneously, enabling precise location tracking and short-range, high-bandwidth communication.

Common applications include indoor positioning systems, tracking tags, and device-to-device communication: The phone uses ultrawideband to locate nearby AirTags.

Often abbreviated UWB.
