uberized
Transformed by apps
Uberized describes an industry or service that has been disrupted by an app-based platform connecting customers directly with independent providers, bypassing traditional businesses.
The term comes from Uber, the ride-hailing company that transformed taxi services.
The hotel industry fears being uberized by Airbnb.
To uberize is to apply this model: Startups are trying to uberize everything from laundry to legal services.
