tyrannosauruses

Giant Cretaceous carnivores

Tyrannosauruses is the plural of tyrannosaurus, the genus of massive carnivorous dinosaurs that dominated North America in the late Cretaceous period.

The most famous species, Tyrannosaurus rex (often shortened to T. rex), had powerful jaws, tiny forelimbs, and stood roughly twenty feet tall.

Figuratively, tyrannosaurus suggests something enormous, predatory, or fearsome: a tyrannosaurus of corporate law.
