two-man saw

Partner-operated logging tool

A two-man saw is a large crosscut saw with a handle at each end, designed to be operated by two people working in alternating rhythm.

Used historically for felling trees and cutting logs before chainsaws became widespread: They took turns on the two-man saw until the oak finally fell.

Also called a crosscut saw or misery whip.
