Illegal rail riding
Trainhopping is the practice of illegally riding freight trains, typically by climbing into empty boxcars or onto flatcars.
Associated with hobos and transient workers in American history, it persists as a subculture among travelers seeking free transportation or adventure: He spent a summer trainhopping across the country.
Also called hopping freights.
