toucher
One making contact
A toucher is someone or something that touches.
In lawn bowls and pétanque, a toucher is a ball that has touched the jack (target ball) during play, giving it special status—it remains live even if knocked into the ditch.
The word also appears in close-call expressions: That was a near toucher means something almost happened or barely missed.
