thumbsticks
Analog input knobs
Thumbsticks are the small joystick-like controls on video game controllers, operated by the thumbs.
Most modern controllers have two—one for movement, one for camera control.
The term distinguishes them from full-sized joysticks: The left thumbstick controls your character while the right thumbstick looks around.
