thematization

Making something central

Thematization is the process of organizing something around a theme or making a theme explicit.

In linguistics and philosophy, it refers to bringing a topic to the foreground—positioning it as what a sentence or discourse is about.

More broadly, thematization describes how spaces, experiences, or content get organized around unifying concepts: the thematization of the casino as ancient Rome, thematization of memory in her novels.
