text cursor
Typing position indicator
A text cursor is the blinking vertical line or other marker showing where typed characters will appear in a document or text field.
It indicates the insertion point and moves as you type.
Also called a caret—distinct from the mouse cursor, which tracks pointer movement across the screen.
