telephone booth

Public calling station

A telephone booth is a small enclosed structure containing a public payphone, typically found on streets or in public buildings.

Most had folding doors for privacy and a light that came on when occupied.

Once ubiquitous, telephone booths have largely disappeared with the rise of mobile phones, though they remain a fixture in older films and stories—notably as Superman's changing room.
