telegraph office
Morse code bureau
A telegraph office was a building or room where telegrams were sent and received, staffed by operators who transmitted messages in Morse code over electrical wires.
Before telephones became widespread, these offices served as communication hubs in towns and cities: She rushed to the telegraph office to wire her family the news.
The term is now historical.
