tattoo machine

Skin art device

A tattoo machine is the handheld device tattoo artists use to inject ink under the skin.

It drives needles rapidly in and out, puncturing the epidermis to deposit pigment in the dermis below.

Traditional coil machines use electromagnets; newer rotary and pen-style machines are quieter and lighter.

Though often called a tattoo gun, professionals generally prefer tattoo machine.
