take two
Director's do-over
Take two signals a second attempt after the first one failed or was unsatisfactory.
The phrase comes from film production, where numbered takes record each attempt at a scene: That stumble wasn't great—take two.
Outside filmmaking, it suggests trying again from the beginning: My soufflé collapsed, so take two tomorrow.
