t-score

Statistical test result

A t-score is a standardized statistical value showing how far a data point falls from the mean, measured in units of standard error.

T-scores appear in hypothesis testing when sample sizes are small or population variance is unknown: The t-score exceeded the critical value, so we rejected the null hypothesis.

In medical contexts, t-scores measure bone density relative to healthy young adults: A t-score below -2.5 indicates osteoporosis.
