swoops

Darts down fast

Swoops is the third-person singular of swoop—to descend rapidly, as a bird of prey diving toward its target: The hawk swoops down on the mouse.

By extension, anything that moves with similar sudden downward motion swoops: She swoops in at the last minute to claim credit.

A swoop can also be a sweeping grab or raid.
