swim-in
Waterborne civil demonstration
A swim-in is a form of protest where demonstrators enter a segregated swimming pool or beach to challenge racial exclusion.
The term echoes sit-in, applying the same tactic to aquatic facilities: Civil rights activists organized swim-ins at whites-only pools in the 1960s.
Like other -in formations, it names both the act and the event.
