swim-a-thon
Charitable lap event
A swim-a-thon is a fundraising event where participants collect pledges based on the distance they swim.
Like walkathons and other -athon formations, it combines endurance activity with charitable giving: The swim team's annual swim-a-thon raised money for new equipment.
Sometimes spelled swimathon.
