surf wax
Traction for waves
Surf wax is a sticky substance applied to the deck of a surfboard to provide traction.
Without it, a surfer's feet would slip on the wet fiberglass surface.
Different formulations exist for different water temperatures—tropical wax is harder, cold-water wax softer.
Surfers typically apply a base coat followed by a top coat: Don't forget to wax your board before we head out.
