dawn patrol
First-light surf session
Dawn patrol is the practice of heading out very early in the morning to pursue an activity, especially surfing or skiing.
The term comes from military aviation—reconnaissance flights at first light—but now typically describes enthusiasts who hit the waves or slopes before work: I'm doing dawn patrol tomorrow if the swell holds up.
