superegos

Morality-enforcing psyche parts

Superegos is the plural of superego, a psychoanalytic term for the part of the mind that internalizes moral standards and judges one's own behavior.

Freud theorized it develops from parental and social influence, producing guilt when violated.

The term appears in general use for an internalized conscience or moral critic: Their superegos wouldn't let them enjoy the ill-gotten gains.
