suits of armor
Medieval body shields
Suits of armor are full-body protective coverings made of metal plates, worn by knights and soldiers in medieval Europe.
Each suit comprised interlocking pieces—helmet, breastplate, gauntlets, greaves—articulated to allow movement while deflecting blows from swords and lances.
The museum displayed suits of armor from the 15th century.
Now largely ceremonial or decorative, they symbolize chivalric ideals and medieval warfare.
