iron man
Tireless, unbreakable competitor
An iron man is a person of exceptional physical endurance or mental toughness—someone who seems indefatigable.
In sports, an iron man is an athlete who plays every game without rest or substitution: Cal Ripken Jr. was baseball's iron man, playing 2,632 consecutive games.
The term also refers to triathlon competitions combining swimming, cycling, and running. (Capitalized Iron Man is the Marvel superhero.)
