sugar plums
Sweet holiday confections
Sugar plums are small round candies, traditionally made from dried fruit, nuts, and spices coated in sugar.
The word survives mainly through "The Nutcracker" and the poem "'Twas the Night Before Christmas," where visions of sugar plums danced in their heads.
Sugar plum now evokes old-fashioned Christmas nostalgia more than any actual confection.
