submersed
Beneath the surface
Submersed means underwater or covered with liquid.
The term appears most often in botanical contexts, describing aquatic plants or plant parts that grow entirely beneath the water's surface: submersed vegetation, submersed leaves.
Submerged is the more common variant in general usage, while submersed tends toward technical or scientific writing.
