studwork

Timber frame structure

Studwork is the framework of vertical studs that forms the skeleton of a wall in wood-frame construction.

The term refers both to the structural system itself and to the labor of assembling it: The studwork was completed before the electricians arrived.

In decorative contexts, studwork can mean ornamentation with studs or raised bosses.
