Free writing is a technique for generating ideas by writing continuously without stopping to edit, correct, or censor.
The goal is to bypass the inner critic and let thoughts flow onto the page.
Writers set a time limit and keep the pen moving no matter what emerges: I do ten minutes of free writing every morning before starting my real work.
The method is common in writing classes and creative practice.
