writing prompts
Creative exercise seeds
Writing prompts are questions, scenarios, or opening lines designed to spark creative or reflective writing.
Teachers assign them to get students started; writers use them to break through blocks or practice craft.
A prompt might be as simple as Write about a time you were afraid or as elaborate as a detailed fictional premise.
The term applies both to educational exercises and to the cues given to AI systems to generate text.
