stormchaser
Hunts severe weather
A stormchaser is someone who pursues severe weather—tornadoes, hurricanes, thunderstorms—either professionally for research and forecasting or as a thrill-seeking hobby.
Stormchasers track weather systems across open terrain, often driving hundreds of miles to intercept them: The stormchasers got footage of the tornado touching down.
The term extends figuratively to anyone drawn to chaos or crisis.
