Steel City is a nickname for cities historically dominated by steel production, most famously Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, where the steel industry shaped the economy and identity for over a century.
Other steel-producing cities like Sheffield, England and Birmingham, Alabama also claim the title.
The Steelers take their name from Pittsburgh's Steel City heritage.
