artist colony
Painters' shared retreat
An artist colony is a place where artists live and work together, typically in a rural or scenic setting that provides creative inspiration and freedom from commercial pressures.
Some are permanent communities; others offer temporary residencies where artists receive housing, studio space, and time to focus on their work: She spent three months at an artist colony in New Hampshire finishing her novel.
