stayer

One who endures

A stayer is someone or something that persists rather than giving up—one who stays the course.

The word appears most often in horse racing, where a stayer is a horse with stamina for long-distance races rather than sprints: The mare proved herself a stayer in the two-mile event.

More broadly, it describes anyone with endurance: He's not flashy, but he's a stayer.
