starting fluid

Cold engine spray

Starting fluid is an aerosol spray used to help start internal combustion engines in cold weather or when they're struggling to turn over.

It contains highly volatile compounds—typically ether—that ignite more easily than gasoline, giving the engine the initial combustion it needs: Give it a shot of starting fluid and try again.

Overuse can damage engines.
